Reflecting on Violence

This article is born out of the need to reflect on acts of violence that. in recent years, have profoundly shocked international public opinion. Presidential candidates, public figures, and social leaders have been assassinated by individuals or groups who did not share their social, religious, or political ideas.

 

These crimes undermine the very essence of our coexistence. They attack the values that constitute the foundation of every civilized society: respect for life, liberty, democracy, justice, and tolerance. Without them, we lose the compass that guides us toward a life of peace, civility, and mutual respect.

 

Call to Action

This is not a call to debate politics, religion, or other divisive issues. It is an invitation to deep reflection: what can we do, individually and collectively, to recover, cultivate, and sustain these values, and build a society of integrity and justice?

 

Fundamental Rights

Let's remember that respecting these fundamental values guarantees our most basic rights: the right to life, freedom of expression, freedom of opinion, and freedom of religion. However, the exercise of these rights must always be framed within the social contract that binds us together.

 

Collective Transformation

The transformation of society is not the sole responsibility of authorities; it depends on all of us. If each person, from their place in the world, works on their personal growth—relearning and strengthening these values—their influence will expand, and contribute to real change.​​​​​
